This statement 'netted' collar necklace uses a colour palette inspired by Klimt's paintings. He used gold and jewel like colours to emphasis the sensuous quality of his work. This necklace offers a real golden glow and a great deal of presence without the weight you might associate with such a substantial piece.

Using Miyuki seed beads in gold and blue with red Swarovski crystal, the delicious Murano glass elements which finish the piece  includes two beads and a 1" (2.5cms) drop  all inlaid with genuine gold leaf.

Murano glass:  The origins of glass making in Venice go back to the times of the Roman Empire. By the eighth century glass  from this source was highly prized and traded across the world.  At the end of the thirteenth century,  all production was moved to the island of Murano to prevent the vast number of furnaces endangering  an overcrowded Venice full of wooden buildings. Since then production has continued uninterrupted, although its popularity has shifted with world events. However, by the 1860's,  it had become as highly desired as it is today.  All of the Murano Glass beads and drops have been individually made using traditional glass blowing techniques and most  incorporate genuine gold and silver leaf.

This necklace is 17.5" (44cms) long and is finished with a sterling silver clasp
